BBCG.08.04.D365.2.PDF: Configuring Inventory Management within Dynamics 365 SCM (Second Edition) - Module 4: Configuring Counting (Digital)
The Waterdeep Trading Company is the purveyor of all the finest adventuring supplies to travelers, rogues, wizards, and clerics in all Faerûn and is headquartered in the great city of Waterdeep on the Sword Coast.
Recently they have been experiencing a huge upswing in the traffic through their store and have realized that the old quill and scroll-based financial system is not going to scale anymore. The manual supply chain management processes that they are using will not handle their forecasted future demand.
As a result, they have taken the step to modernize their finance and supply chain systems and implement Microsoft Dynamics 365 to manage all their legal (and not so legal) entities. And the following is a journal of how they set up their system and tweaked the system to make it work perfectly. The Inventory Management area of Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management allows you to track all the inventory within your warehouses, manage all the movements and inventory adjustments, and set the inventory policies for costing. Inventory Management is also the foundation for the other modules like Procurement & Sourcing and Sales Order Management. It gives you something to receive into and ship from, which is useful to track.
In this guide, we will step you through the setup of all the basic configuration that is needed to get your sites and warehouses configures, show you how to tweak your products so that they can be used within the warehousing structures, how to perform common inventory transactions like cycle counts and how to configure batch controlled and serialized items.
Once we have all our locations and products configured, we can start performing some transactions within the warehouse. One of the first tasks will probably be to conduct an inventory count to get all our balances up to date.
This module will show how to configure our counting policies and how to perform cycle counts.
