The Waterdeep Trading Company is the purveyor of all the finest adventuring supplies to travelers, rogues, wizards, and clerics in all Faerûn and is headquartered in the great city of Waterdeep on the Sword Coast.

Recently they have been experiencing a massive upswing in the traffic through their store and have realized that the old quill and scroll-based financial system will not scale anymore. The manual supply chain management processes that they are using will not handle their forecasted future demand.

As a result, they have taken the step to modernize their finance and supply chain systems and implement Microsoft Dynamics 365 to manage all their legal (and not so legal) entities. And the following is a journal of how they set up their system and tweaked it to make it work perfectly. The Human Resource Management area within Dynamics 365 not only allows us to manage all of your employee's employment information, but it also allows us to track jobs & positions within the organization, track recruiting projects, and much more. A lot of the core information that we can configure within the Human Resource Management area is also leveraged by other areas of Dynamics 365 for approvals, skill matching, and also resource management, so even if we are not going to be using all of the Human Resource Management features right away, you will be using some of them.

Setting up the Human Resource Management area is not hard to do either. This guide is designed to give step by step instructions on how to configure all the base codes and controls that we need to make the Human Resource Management area tick correctly and to provide us with step-by-step instructions on how we can quickly load all the necessary workers, positions, and job information so that we can speed up the data load process and get us up and running quickly. Once the general configuration has been completed, we can start setting up some of the more exciting Human Resource Management area parts.  And the first place that we will begin to is configuring the Workers and Employees.  The Worker is the general way to classify people within Dynamics 365, and you will want to load everyone you want to track within the Human Resources as Workers.

Workers can then be classified as Employees or Contractors depending on whether they are paid by the company or just external parties you work with.  This section will focus on setting up the Employees and leaving the other worker variations to a later subject.

This module will show how we can start configuring our worker configuration and details within the organization.
