If you have any revenue recognition requirements, or if you want to recognize costs at times after the costs have been incurred then you will probably also be interested in tracking accruals within the ledger and we can set these up with Accrual Schemes within Dynamics 365 for Operations.
These allow us to redistribute posting values within a Journal to different periods to manage accruals, rather than having to track these by hand.
