Book Club – My Iceberg Is Melting

Posted by Author, Curator, Visually Impared Squirrel Literacy Advocate & Dynamics AX Technical Solution Professional (TSP) at Microsoft on

This week’s book club book was suggested to me a couple of years ago, and even though I thought it sounded like a dumb book, about penguins that were about to all fall victim to a Poseidon Adventure style fate when their iceberg home melts under their little feet, I sucked it up and read the 160 page book over two flights and don’t regret it for a second.

This book tells a story of change, the penguin hero has realized that the iceberg is melting (i.e. their ERP system is going to fail soon) and has to convince all of the other penguins (executives, users etc.) that they need to make a change. Along the way there are detractors and penguins saying that there is nothing wrong, but he continues to convince them and show them the problems. After a while, a group of explorer penguins (selection committee) brave the sea and Killer Whales to search for a new iceberg (hopefully AX), even though it means that the penguins left behind need to roll up their fins and take over some of their work. The rest you will have to read for yourself.
